In a busy online world, it has never been more important to get out in front of people and meet people in a room. To connect in person with contacts you have made online; then to connect online with contacts you have made in person.
Meeting people face-to-face can generate leads in different ways. Perhaps you spark an idea in them; perhaps you are an opportunity they can recommend; or a solution to a problem they hadn’t even realised that they had. Perhaps, you are just the person they are looking for and you popped up on their radar.
The value of face-to-face relationship-building has never been more important. You want your posts to stand out on LinkedIn or Instagram. Well, once they’ve met you in person, they will follow you and look at your social-media output with more interest than before.
I’ve been hosting networking through the Small Business Co-Llab for nearly two years and I have been so heartened to see how solutions are found, collaborations formed, ideas suggested and acted on as those visiting my groups build relationships and support each other.
Networking is not just about promoting yourself. It is an exchange - how you can help others, collaborate, connect and build this local community, the core pillars of the Small Business Co-Llab.
I’ve hosted the LinkedIn Locals for Epsom and Ewell for more than a year and it’s been great to see the LinkedIn community build on and off line. Of course, you don’t need to be on LinkedIn to benefit. Get people to follow you on whichever platform you choose.

But now, I am delighted to have launched in Wimbledon, Wandsworth and Putney. Along with Sarah Collins of Sarah Collins Coaching, specialising in Media coaching for those wanting to get themselves out in front of a media audience, we have begun expanding networking in these areas and it’s currently free and open to all business owners, freelancers and those in the business world.
