Who are we?

CHARLIE WEBB has run CHARLOTTE WEBB PHOTOGRAPHY since 2018. A mum to three (aged 11-17) she has had tons of practice both photographing and managing children.

Charlie was Chair of the local school’s PTFA for almost three years, running events and managing children’s activities.

Now she runs a local networking group for Epsom & Ewell called the Small Business Co-Llab that also hosts the LinkedIN Local For Epsom & Ewell.

How much is it?

The course costs £210 for a three-day course. Drop off is at 10am, pick up at 3pm.
The course can provide sd cards and SLR cameras but there will be more opportunity for your child to learn and work if they have their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own camera?
Ideally, yes. If you do, great.

What if I don’t own a camera?
If not, we will hire a few cameras though they will be shared among the group. To get the most out of of the experience, you can hire your own and we can advise how to do this. Typically a hired camera can be delivered to you and sent back via courier and costs about £60 per day depending on model. It will include insurance.

Do I need an SD card?
An SD card would be most useful so you can keep the photos you take. However, any photos taken of any of the group during the course would require a model release for you to use them or keep them. Otherwise we will have to delete them.

What is the format of the day?
We will start at 10am and finish at 3pm. All children will need a packed lunch and snacks and drinks for the day. The course will be a mix of theory and practical, with lots of time to apply their learnings on a practical basis.

What will the course cover?
We will cover the basics of operating an SLR camera on manual mode. We will look at photographers and different styles of photography. We cover composition and how to achieve different effects through choice of aperture and exposure. We will also discuss how to take a good portrait and lighting in natural daylight. Finally we will begin an edit to show the full process of how we get an image ready for display and on the final day we will select some images for a presentation to parents or carers.

Where will the photo course be held?
The photo course will be held in the lovely secluded grounds of a small private secondary school in Surrey (Bookham).

What age does my child need to be?
We are inviting children aged 11-17 years old to (ideally going into Year 7 and beyond).

Do I have to do the whole three days?
As the course is designed to teach the process of photography to a finished art form, then yes, all three days are required.

Can my child join if they have never used a camera before?
Absolutely, it is designed for complete beginners. However, if your child does have experience, we can teach them accordingly.

Will my child get to keep their photos?
As long as model release forms are signed for any pictures of identifiable people then yes. All pictures of nature or abstract/landscape you can keep.
